We have so much to be thankful for.
That statement can definitely stand alone but often times we won’t let it.
Our experiences begin to weigh in more. We miss gratefulness and begin filtering “things” through a “lens” that distorts, marring the beauty. And what’s crazy is the “lens” we allow will have us “feeling some type of way’” on our own. Before we know it, our attitude is marred, our countenance is marred, our demeanor is marred and soon, we’re “all in” on this unpleasant, marred experience.
We have an unfortunate tendency to internalize all the wrong stuff and reject what is good. We cling to our painful experiences though joy is available. Be it pain from our past, terror of dark moments, heartbreak of broken promises or despair of failed relationships - we hold on tight to the fragments resulting from the shatter.
This grip weakens our resolve and clouds how we “see” things - even the good things. These perspectives become the “lens” of our heart. And when left unchecked, our heart fully adopts bitterness as it’s own, not even needing the jaded lens anymore.
Oh Lord please, create a clean heart in us so that we can be refreshed and see goodness instead of our pain. Let us see possibility instead of the flaws. Let us see potential instead of stains.
In order to truly SOAR and build a life we love, we must be willing to do the heart work, which is indeed the hard work.
When I say “Take Care of You” as a Success SuperPower, it’s deeper than our appearance. We must confront the lens that is distorting how we see and feel. We must rid the things preventing our heart to see good.
